India is a great secular country and here the Muslims have as much opportunity as a Hindu. Contrary to people like Barkha Dutt, who sometimes talks arrant nonsense, the 3 Khans belie opinion of slanted journalists that the minority does not have it good in India. The 3 khans are Shahrukh, Amir, and Salman. They are the top stars of Bollywood. Though none of them got a break in Hollywood, yet they reign supreme on the Mumbai and Hindi screen. Each film of these stars makes waves at the box office and the last outing of Amir titled " dangaL" is the greatest all time hit
ever.That's no mean achievement as film garners over Rs 650 crores at the box office.The 3 khans are in the same bracket though as an actor and a consummate artist Amir Khan would be a mile ahead of the other two. His acting is par excellence as he relives his roles and thus has the title of " Mr. Perfectionist". He is 51 and one can't think of him fading from the screen for an another decade.
All the 3 Khans by a quirk of fate burst on the Hindi screen together about 2 decades back and since then they have remained the numero uno of Mumbai films. They have consistently turned out fantastic performances. Amir, as I have said, is the leader, but the other two have their own niche place. Salman is the macho actor and
Shahrukh a romantic.Cataloging their hits would be an exercise in futility as one can get that information from the net, but suffice that these 3 have played roles that are close to the Indian psyche. They are also nationalist and do roles that project India well. A few intemperate remarks were made by Shahrukh and Amir, but they have also said a lot of positive things. It is a mystery how these 3 stars from the minority community have grasped the Indian psyche and to say the least make Indian girls swoon. Such is the magnetic aura of the trio. Salman in the film " Sultan" turns in a stupendous performance that will put Sylvester Stallone in the shade.
The future? for the next decade and a half I do not see any competition on the horizon. Their reign is not likely to end soon. Maybe it's good for India as they remain an example of Indian secularism. However one does wish that the 3 khans could be better off in case they could break into Hollywood, but perhaps that may not happen.
