Abu Dhabi is the capital of the UAE and is the less glamorous rival of Dubai which is 125 km away. It does remain in the shadow of Dubai but in its own way, it has many places of entertainment. There are a variety of clubs and bars that run late into the night and if you are single and need a partner or are with a loved one looking out for a freakout, the Shangrila Hotel's bar called the Rays Bar is an absolute delight. The bar is on the 54th floor and from above one can look down below
on the shimmering lights of the city.The bar is pretty exclusive but thankfully there is no entrance fee as some exclusive bars charge but the drinks are costly and are prepared to shell out a lot of money. But the best part is that you can get the best of scotch and beers with wine, at a stiff price, though. No Indian spirits, so you better get used to foreign brands. There is a nice menu as well and there is a choice of meats and poultry. But veggies will find it tough, but the awe-inspiring sight from the 54th floor will make you forget everything.
There is excellent music and the DJ belts out rollicking music with plenty of girls sipping scotch and whiskey. Some are single and you can think of a relationship, but be prepared to pay and
keep a $1000 in your pocket and that includes the tip of gratis to the girl. Most are Russians and Ukrainian but a few Indian also. The cynosure will be the Arab girl. You can recognize them with the Hijab, but they are from Lebanon or Egypt where there is not that much freedom. Don't be fooled by the Hijab, because these girls are mercenary as ever and you could shell out double the money for the evening.
The food is passable but more attuned to European taste. The drinks are pure and the setting excellent. My friend wore a hat and the gateman said no headdress, so that's it. You follow the rules. The bar runs late into the night and after that, you can move to your room. I had a stint with 2 pals of mine and we drank till we were sozzled. It's a great place and when in Abu Dhabi don't forget to have a drink at the Rays Bar. Lastly in case you are lonely and want a girl, even an Arab girl in your arms, then just hit this place. You won't regret it.
