Playboy magazine is an institution in America. It started in 1953 and was the dream of one man named Hugh Hefner. He was the driving force behind the magazine. For the next 6 decades, the magazine carved a niche for itself in the world of publishing. The magazine was sold easily and regrettably, many nations banned it as well. But even in countries, where it was banned the magazine was available under the table through clandestine organizations who sold the magazine in the black at a heavy premium.

But the internet destroyed the magazine as easy porn on the net made the magazine look a tame

affair. The magazine began to lose readership and slowly but surely its readership started going down. At the turn of the 21st century, the magazine was struggling but it kept up its facade.

The editorial board thought that with so much porn on the net, Playboy had no place and two years back the magazine changed colors.  It stopped publishing nudes and became a sterile magazine. So much so that in one of the issues a hijab-clad woman was showcased.  The magazine however completely bombed and many who were missing the magazine asked:" what the hell is going on?". This was like a shot in the arm and the magazine jumped up from its sick bed to don its old avatar.

Now from March 2017,

the magazine is coming back like it was in the old days. People had really missed the magazine and now from March 17, the magazine will hit the stands like the olden days. There is much excitement as people have realized what they had missed. it was just not the nudes, but a whole lot of great stories and articles and interviews with some great personages. Who can forget that stars like John Wayne had given interviews in Playboy? I recollect reading that interview and even now I can remember every word of what John said particularly with regard to blacks. I won't repeat it here.

The magazine will not be competing against porn on the net. Nudes will only be incidental. But the magazine will cater to some cerebral activity as well and its new motto is almost tongue in cheek" naked is beautiful".  The magazine wont be available in India and the gulf countries, but copies will come at a hefty premium over the list price. Do you want the magazine? then pay for it. That's a fine motto.
