The winds of change have blown all the old cobwebs away and India-UAE relations are looking up.This was India 68th Republic Day Parade and a massive military parade was showcased. The chief guest this time was his highness the crown prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Commander of the armed forces. One can recollect that in 2015, the Chief Guest was president Obama and last year it was president Hollande.

This year showing the great importance of UAE the Indian government led by Modi invited the UAE crown prince as chief guest. To show solidarity with India the Dubai government decked their most important monument the Burj Khalifa in India colors.A light and sound show followed with the flag colors waving in the night and in the background the famous song "Jai Ho" composed by Rehman the Indian music director was played.

The entire scene was infectious and worth standing and watching in the jostling crowds.

I was there at the show and there were massive crowds there, many from India. It was a stupendous day and as the Burj was lit up and the song"Jai Ho" played, the enthusiasm of the crowd was like an adrenalin in their blood. The Burj is the tallest building in the world and visitors are charged AED 135.to climb up in the super fast lifts.

Even in the capital city of Abu Dhabi the main government building on Corniche was decked in Indian flag colors and when I drove past it, a sense of pride was the only emotion that came.I also admired the pragmatic ruler of the UAE and also Dubai to have thought of such an excellent way to show that they regard India as a friend.

The UAE is an extremely developed place and all along there is tolerance and a pragmatic approach. The Burj is the epitome of Dubai and is a landmark that can be seen from miles afar.It is a wonder of the modern world and there is no building like it anywhere else in the world. In any case, it won't be easy to construct one to match the Burj.Rising into the sky and decked with India colors it was a sight to behold.I have some lovely videos of the event, but they will have to wait till when I can post them on EC.Well done Dubai and Abu Dhabi, to make even Indians realize that R-Day is a special event.
